025: Trauma Healing, Self-Acceptance & Compassion with Nicole Dake
Feb 15, 2024 Season 2 Episode 25
Kylie van Gelder

Today's episode is number 25! It feels like a big number, so I'm celebrating with a guest. Nicole Dake is a mother, an award-winning author, a spiritual life coach, a blogger, and a social media influencer.

In the show, Nicole shares her personal story and her trauma-healing journey. She talks about awareness of what's happening, self-acceptance by accepting where you are now, and the need for self-compassion as a part of the healing process. While we speak about trauma, we also refer to the importance of overall mental health.

During our conversation, we discussed two of Nicole's ten books. One is the Trauma Survivors Guide to Coping with Panic Attacks, which won the Bookfest Award for Best Mental Health Book 2022. The second book is Compassion is the Ultimate Goal of Spirituality.

If you or someone you know has experienced trauma or you want more information about trauma and mental health, then this is a show you don't want to miss.

Key Topics

  • The definition of trauma and what emotional trauma is. (06:20)
  • How mothers can start on a healing journey. Tip: The first step is always awareness. (11:39)
  • Accepting where you are now as part of the healing process. (15:28)
  • You cannot heal if you keep beating yourself up. You need to be kind to yourself and find value in how you are. (18:58)
